Once you have spent enough time looking at complex emotions arising from looking at something you want but think you can never get, you will have tapped into the state that most people are in.

Once you are familiar with this state and all the negative emotions that come with it, you are ready to turn those emotions around.

Once you can pace your target's pain and transform it into hope and other positive feelings, then you will be doing the work of the cold reader.

Storytelling is the best way we humans have to convey information in a meaningful way.

It is also the best way to fundamentally change one’s outlook on things. To give them (or yourself) those ‘aha’ moments. 

Storytelling is what cold readers use to transform a target’s emotional pain (frustration, sadness, anger, jealousy, etc.) into positivity (hope, faith, happiness, etc.).

As always, the best way to tap into how people think (and therefore how you can change their point of view) is to do it yourself first. 

With this exercise, you create your own ideal role model to uplift you from your negative feelings. Imagine what you would want to hear, and there is a very high chance that it is the same thing others in a similar situation would want to hear also.

The idea is to uplift others by reminding them of their abilities and potential future.

Here is a sample structure of how this might sound:

I know how you feel. Right now, you feel like those things you want are going to be forever out of reach. That those things are only  for those lucky people with better DNA, better connections, and better luck. But I see something in you. Something that you maybe haven’t discovered. Something that I can sense will help you do something truly extraordinary. I don’t know how I know that, but I know it to be true. That one day you will do something great. Something magnificent that will help many. Something that will get you the recognition you deserve. I can see that about you, and I know that someday you will too.

The above is a very vague statement. It is meant to be a template to be personalized to the individual you are cold reading. You need to connect the “knowing” to as many real things in their lives as you can. It doesn’t have to be very accurate. Our brains can’t really tell the difference between causation and correlation.

It’s very important that you practice this on yourself first. Not only will it make your cold reading more accurate, but it will be therapeutic. 

You must first help yourself before you can help others.

Start with actual skills and abilities that you have, that if you really put them into play and things worked out perfectly, it would lead you to get what you really want. 

It doesn’t have to seem easy, and nor should it, but it does need to be plausible enough to put it into a cause-effect statement.

Write down as many of these skills and abilities that you currently have, and then move onto your angel statement.

Your angel statement must start with your current truth and it must believably lead to a much better future than the present.

Also, you must get everything you want as a result of your future skills and abilities. It can’t just be that you win the lottery, you get an inheritance, or anything like that.

There doesn’t need to be a clear connection between now and then, but the above factors must be present. 

Now, imagine an angel telling you the path in the best way possible. You don’t need to know all the exact steps. The angel statement starts with your clear set of current skills and ends with a time in the future when you will get everything you want via the use of your talents and work.

Creating an angel statement is a work in progress. It will take some time. Most importantly, you must believe it. If you don’t believe your own angel statement, then you certainly won’t believe when you cold read someone else’s angel statement. 

The ultimate goal of this is for you to be able to walk up to someone, accurately read how they feel and then cold read to them an angel statement.
